Uber Eats partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery to create the Wizarding World Holiday Trunk, an immersive AR experience that brought the magic of Harry Potter to life. Built with React and powered by 8th Wall for augmented reality, the application featured a gingerbread Hogwarts castle kit that unlocked AR games and an interactive wizarding experience. Using YOLO(v7) for object detection, the app seamlessly combined physical and digital interactions to engage fans in a unique way. This innovative use of technology transformed holiday traditions and showcased Uber Eats' ability to deliver not just food, but unforgettable holiday experiences.

Wizarding World Holiday Trunk

Each trunk included holiday-themed Wizarding snacks, game components, a gingerbread house that served as a key element of the experience, and three cookies that unlocked 3 AR games.

YOLO Cookie Detection

We specifically fit a YOLO model to detect 3 distinct cookie shapes as a way for users to unlock and play the games.

Tangible Prototyping

A rapid prototyping approach was used to develop five AR experiences, including a magical AR letter to welcome users, three mini-games, and a prize showcase for collecting trophies. Iterative development allowed us to refine the user experience, ensuring it felt engaging and intuitive during gameplay.
